Our Entire Non-Toxic Sleep Setup: Naturepedic Mattress & Bedding Review

A real-life walkthrough of our mattress, topper, sheets, duvet, pillows, plus our son’s crib mattress and even our dog’s bed — what we chose, what surprised us, and who it’s best for.

🎥 Video + full write-up ⏱ ~23 min watch 🗓 Last updated:

If you’re here, odds are you’ve already realized something most people don’t think about until they’re deep in the rabbit hole: we spend roughly a third of our lives in bed… and most mattresses + bedding are made with materials you probably wouldn’t choose to have pressed against your skin for 8 hours a night.

That’s what sent my wife and me down the “non-toxic sleep setup” path in the first place.

Over the last year, we’ve switched essentially our entire sleep setup to Naturepedic — not just our mattress and sheets, but also our duvet, pillows, our son’s crib mattress, and yes… even our dog’s bed. Is that excessive? Maybe. But after sleeping on this setup every night, I can tell you it’s one of the few “healthy home” upgrades that’s made a difference we can actually feel: comfort, temperature, and a lot more peace of mind.

This post walks you through our exact setup, what we like, what surprised us, and who I think Naturepedic is (and isn’t) a good fit for.

Our entire bedding is from Nature Pedic. Everything from the mattress to the sheets to the duvet. Even our son's mattress and sheets are from Nature Pedic. Heck, even our dog's mattress is also from Nature Pedic. Now, is that excessive or is it actually worth it? Well, for the past year, my wife and I have been using Nature Pedic exclusively. And today, I want to give you my complete honest review and help you to find out if Nature Pedic is a good fit for you. Now, full disclaimer, Nature Pedic is not sponsoring this video. They did not pay me to make this video. They did not pay me to say tell me what to say or what not to say inside this video. So this is my complete honest review of our entire bedding and my own honest thoughts about Naturopic. But I am affiliated with them and I do earn a commission if you choose to purchase anything Naturopic through my link or my code in the description below. So if you end up wanting to try Naturopic after listening to this video, you can save 15% off by using my code Craig 15 at checkout sitewide for Nature Pedic. And you can find the links to everything that I talk about in today's video in the description below. Now, jumping into the video, we spend a third of our lives in bed. And so, if you are here watching this video right now, it's probably because you were looking to upgrade your bedding and your mattress to a more non-toxic type of bedding because most mattresses and sheets are loaded with toxic chemicals like flame retardants, PFAs, and polyurethane foam. Not to mention, most sheets are made from polyester, which is plastic. We're sleeping, most of us, for eight hours a day with our skin directly in contact with those chemicals. And science has found that exposure to these chemicals can come with a host of health issues. And about a year ago, my wife and I found out about Matropedic. And we made the decision to switch over our entire bedding to them. And they have all the proper certifications that you want to look for when sourcing non-toxic materials in your bedding. They are not greenwashing anything. So, I'll walk you through our entire bedding and give you my honest thoughts and reviews about each product that we have. Now, let's start with the main attraction. Of course, this is our mattress. Now, when we got our mattress earlier this year, this was tough for us because we didn't go to a physical store. We didn't go to a gallery and actually lay on the mattresses and try them out. We were going solely off of the website and trusting all the descriptions on the website. So, when we ordered our mattress, it was a little bit scary. I'm not going to lie. When it showed up at the door, we were a little bit worried that we might not like it. But if you do want to try your mattress first before you buy online, I completely understand. That's why Naturopedic has, I believe, at the time of this recording, 23 different galleries across the United States. So, I'm sure there's one in a city near you. Our mattress, we went with the EOS Triilux model. They have a few different models to choose from. The traditional model, the EOS models, and the House Scion model. It was a pretty easy decision for us because my wife and I prefer a mattress without inner spring coils. Now, to each their own. We just personally didn't want a mattress with the coils in it. And so, the model from Naturopedic's website that does not have any spring coils is the EOS Triilux model. And the thing that really set this one apart from when we were looking at it, other than the spring coils, is that this mattress is fully customizable. It comes with several layers of inserts, three layers of inserts for each side. So whether your spouse sleeps a little differently than you, whether you like it a little bit more firm, a little more plush, you can organize those layers in any order that you want. And you can reorder them at any point in the future if maybe your needs change. If you like something more firm in the future, you want a little bit more support, maybe you want something a little bit more plush or soft, you can reorder those at any point in the future. When these boxes, there was half a dozen boxes, if not more. They arrived to our door and I carried all these back to our bedroom and opened up each one of these boxes one by one and it was all the different layers. It was the cotton, the organic cotton uh casing that all these layers goes in. And I put all these together one by one. It wasn't that big of a hassle. It only took like 30 to 45 minutes. We put all these together and it actually started to come together pretty nicely. And one thing that I will tell you that I noticed right away when I had all these boxes open, it had no off-gassing. There was no smell whatsoever to these boxes being opened up. So that was the first sign that these mattresses and the quality of these materials are actually made with the highest quality materials possible because these are not being off gas at all. And when we had the entire mattress set up, all the layers put in, I measured it and it was only 9 in tall, which is what they say on their website. And you know, I mean, I like a little bit thicker of a mattress, but when we laid on this for the first night, it was actually genuinely surprising how comfortable these layers felt. Now, I did switch around my layers after the first couple nights. I think I wanted it a little bit more firm than the plush feeling. So, I just put that firm layer on top and put the medium and the the soft layer on the bottom. That's all you got to do is just switch around those layers and get a feel for that's right for you. Now, it really only took us about 2 nights to get completely sold on this mattress before we said we were going to return it. But we were coming from another nice non-toxic mattress that we were using for 5 to 6 years prior to this. And that was a tough tough we it was tough to give that one up, but we really wanted to try Nature Pedic and give it a try. And honestly, I think my wife and I were both surprised that we liked Nature Pedic more than our other non-toxic mattress that we were using at the time. Now, what really sets them apart is the materials that they use. The materials of the mattress, they use organic cotton, organic wool, organic latex, and what I noticed personally was that the mattress does sleep relatively cool. I didn't feel overly hot on this mattress when I was using that. We're going to talk about the mattress topper here in a little bit, but the mattress, there is no chemical offging, like I said, so you're not breathing in any of these materials that off gas from 99% of mattresses on the market. But Nature Peditic goes above and beyond and they have all the proper certifications that you want to look for when it comes to non-toxic sourcing. The coolest one that in my opinion is that Nature Pedic was the first ever EWGverified mattress on the market. EWG verification is the the cream of the crop, the creme to the creme, the gold standard of verifications that you want to look for when it comes to sourcing not just your mattresses, but a host of non-toxic products to begin with. And what I really think sets Naturopedic apart from every other company is that Nature Pedic donates 1% or more of every mattress purchase to environmental organizations. That's truly remarkable. Their way that they not just care about their customers, but as to the environment as a whole. They also can trace all of their materials from farm to bed because they have a great relationship with all of their farmers. They know where all their materials are coming from. So nothing's getting lost in that supply chain. They know exactly where everything's coming from. Now, in regards to the warranty of these mattresses, this is also what sets them apart. They are made in the US, which I personally love. They have a 100 night free trial, so you can sleep on this for over 3 months, 100 nights, and get a feel for whether you like this mattress or not. Like I said, it only took my wife and I two nights to know for sure that this was the mattress we were sticking with long term. They have free shipping and free returns, so you really have nothing to lose if you want to try out one of their mattresses. And they have a get this 25 25 year limited warranty on all their adult mattresses. When it comes to their kids or infant mattresses, it's a lifetime warranty, which our infant son, newborn son, he has one of their crib mattresses, and it has a lifetime warranty, which is super nice to have. Overall, I can't recommend Naturopedic mattresses enough. Now, I can only speak for the mattress that we've had and we've tried, but if their other mattress models are just like the one that we have or the same quality, which I'm sure they are, then you're going to be getting a great mattress. Now, let's jump to the next part of our bedding, and this is the box stitch mattress topper. Now, this isn't essential, but I highly recommend it because this actually might be my most favorite part of our bedding altogether. Now, if you're here watching this video looking to upgrade your mattress, but maybe you're just not quite ready to take the leap yet, making that big investment, totally get it. That's where this mattress topper can really come to shine. Because this is a 3in mattress topper, this is basically a mattress in and of itself. So, even if you keep your old mattress, but just get this mattress topper or one like this that's super thick like that, then you can just put that on your old mattress and you pretty much have a mattress upgrade right there. Now, not only does the mattress topper help to extend the life of the mattress that you currently have, but I personally think it feels amazing. My wife also does, too. I was genuinely, listen, I was genuinely shocked when this arrived in the mail. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was not expecting it to feel super heavy duty and heavy like it does. I was expecting something a little lighter weight, but when I lifted that box, I don't It might have felt like 30, 40, 50 lbs. It was heavy. What's really unique about this specific mattress topper, the box stitch mattress topper, is that it has individual compartments, little square compartments that are full of organic latex foam wrapped in organic cotton per kale. So, these little basically squares you can pull out and they are filled with a ton of shredded latex. And when you're laying on this, the best way I can describe it, they feel like kind of little pressure points. It's super comfortable. So your body sinks in, but there are little pressure points that you know I've had low back issues and I get a little tight from my workouts from time to time. And when these your body can curve into it, but it also is like pushing gently on some of maybe your muscles and it feels like you're I'm not going to say getting a massage cuz it doesn't really feel like that, but it just feels like it's it's accentuating the curves of your body really good. And it's not super plush to where you're sinking in or caving in. It has a good bit of firmness because that's the material of the latex, but it really does feel genuinely nice when you're laying on this and the square compartments have that kind of bumpy feel to where you're you're it's accentuating the curves of your body, if that makes sense. Now, you already know that the materials are going to be the highest quality because the latex is gold certified, which is the again the top tier, the gold standard of certifications you want to look for when it comes to latex. It's also Greenguard Gold certified and made safe certified as well. Now, the warranty on this box stitch topper is relatively similar to the mattresses. You get a 100 night free trial, so you can order that, sleep on it, and it's free shipping for your return. So, you have nothing to lose. And they have a 10-year limited warranty on this box stitch mattress topper. So, for 10 years, you have a limited warranty, which is super, super nice. Hey guys, I want to take a quick moment. So be sure to hit that like and subscribe button below. Now let's get back to the content. Next up, let's talk about our sheets because I genuinely I I look forward to getting into bed every night specifically because of our sheets. Now it's the accumulation the cumulative effect of everything on our mattress, but the sheets in particular. We have the organic cotton satine sheets. These feel so buttery soft. It's not silk, but it's satine. It's not satin. It's satine. And this is an organic cotton material that just gets softer and softer the more you use it and the more you wash it. Now, we've used satine sheets for close to 6 years now, but we just started using the Naturopedic ones within the past year. And these ones, when they first arrived, I was definitely skeptical because they did not feel the same as our other satine sheets that we've had in the past. We've tried bamboo liioel satine sheets before and they have a definite definitely more silky feel to them, more satin feel to them. Whereas when the Naturopedic satine sheets arrived, they were more crisp. But after two or three washes and just sleeping in them for maybe a few weeks, they really got so soft. And I personally love these ones more than any sheets that we've tried in the past. But they do have about a half a dozen other type of sheet options that you can go with. This is personally our favorite feel. They have linen, they have just plain cotton, they have other different types of sheets that you can go with, but from our experience, the satine is definitely worth it because I like a nice cool bed. When I pull back those covers, when I get into bed, we set our bedroom at about 68° right now. Sometimes it gets a little bit lower than that. And when we hop into our sheets, it feels nice and cool. The sheets are breathable and they don't allow you to to sweat or overheat as much. Like I don't feel that at all. When I wake up, I am not soaked in a puddle of sweat. I always feel nice and comfortable, a good temperature, and it's really thanks in large part due to those sheets. The nice thing is they don't use any toxic chemicals just like all of Nature Pedic's products. They don't have any formaldahhide and no wrinkle resistant chemicals are used. As far as the certifications and the warranty with their sheets, they are gotcertified cotton sheets, green guard gold certified, and again, Maidsafe certified. In regards to the warranty, they have a 100 night free trial again, so you can sleep on these sheets for 100 nights. And if you don't absolutely love them, you can send them back for free. You also get free shipping to your house as well. So, you really have nothing to lose in trying these sheets out. And they also have a one-year limited warranty on them. So, if anything happens within that first year, you really have nothing to lose. Naturopedic is such a good company. They will always take care of you. Highly recommend checking them out. Now, let's talk about our duvet and our duvet cover. We opted to go with the down duvet insert and the linen duvet cover. Let's talk about the down duvet insert first. Now, if you've ever tried down before, these are duck feathers and it's pretty much exactly what you would expect from a down material. I picked up this insert and it's so light, but when you put this on your body, it blankets you in what feels like a cloud. It keeps you warm right away, but it's the feathers inside the down material because it's down. It's so breathable that it doesn't just smother you on warmth. It's just like a nice hug, honestly. And I don't think now that I've tried down, I don't think I can switch to any other material because this is so soft. It's so light, but it's all season, too. It's It's perfect in the summer, it's perfect in the winter. We've had it all four seasons now, and it feels good in every weather condition. In regards to the quality of the duck feathers, they are 750 fill power USA soft white duck down, and it's encased in a special downproof certified organic cotton fabric that helps to make it more hypoallergenic. Now, if you're wondering what 750 fill power means, that is really just a rating that signifies a extremely high quality down material that has excellent insulating properties. The 750 means that 1 oz of this down material, 1 oz of the duck feathers can fill 750 cubic in of volume when fully lofted. So, that just means you're getting a dense amount of feathers in there, but it's keeping you so warm, but it's also breathable at the same time. Now, if you're wondering about the sourcing of the duck feathers, again, that farmto bed approach that Naturopedic really embodies, Naturopedic sources its duck feathers and down from farms within the United States. The materials are certified by the international down standard, the IDS, to ensure ethical treatment of the ducks and to provide transparency in the entire supply chain. Again, I have not tried any other duvet inserts, but if they're high quality, just like that down. Our pillows are also down, which I'm going to talk about here in a little bit. I cannot recommend down enough. You will not go wrong with the down duvet insert. Now, on to the duvet cover. We chose to go with the Arctic Snow, which is their white version of their linen line. As you might know, if you tried linen, the more you wash it, the more you use it, the softer it gets. The linen duvet cover came a little starchy, a little crisp, but the more we washed it, oh my goodness, the softer and softer this thing felt between that and the sheets, it's so soft that I c I cannot fully explain just how soft this linen feels, but it's so high quality. We don't have any holes in it, and we have a couple dogs that like to scratch and pull the covers off us every morning. Now, linen not only feels great on the skin, but if you are somebody that is sensitive to allergies because linen is looser of a weave and it has more openings, it's less likely to trap dust and other particles. So, it's very hypoallergenic and it's good for people that might get stuffy in the bedroom. I personally think linen is just a timeless look and it looks really good in all environments. So, if you're debating on getting the linen versus other materials, it's something that you have to try for yourself. And again, with all their other products, they do have a warranty, a 100 night free trial. So, if you want to try out the linen, you're just not a fan of it, you know, you give it a month or two months or even three months and you're not a fan of it, you can always return it. Free shipping's free returns, and they have a one-year limited warranty on that as well. In regards to the duvet insert and the duvet covers, it's all got certified organic cotton, OCS certified feathers, green guard gold certified, and made certified. So, top-of- the- notch gold standard certifications. Now, last but certainly not least, these are our down pillows. To top it off, everything on our bed, we also have naturopedic pillows. And we went with their down pillow options. And now that I've tried this, I cannot honestly, like I said about the duvet insert, I could not do any other material other than down because these are so perfect. They form fit to your head perfectly, but it's not a hard material like latex would be. We've used latex in the past. We've done those memory foam pillows. It is not hard like that. And I know a lot of people have issues with those. This is very supportive because of the feathers, the way they're able to concave in. Again, it's like giving your body like a nice hug. Your head and your neck like a nice hug and it actually curves to your neck and to your head, but it's so soft like you're sleeping on a cloud. That's the best way I can describe it. Now, they do have about a half a dozen different pillow options to choose from, but we've only tested out their down and I don't know if I could try any other pillow. I've used several other ones in the past, other brands, other different types, latex, memory foam, and this material is just the best material that I think I could sleep on personally. Now, you might notice the pillows themselves have a little bit of yellow stains on them. Myself personally, I put on skin care throughout the day. I put it on at night before bed. Um, I use a non-toxic skincare, but just the oils coming off my face from that skincare seep through onto that pillow. So that's why my pillow is definitely a little bit more yellow than most people's maybe would be. But if you use skincare, just know that the pillows themselves that are white, uh, do get some yellow residual from, you know, sebum or the materials from skincare on them. Or if you drool, it's going to get a yellow stain on them. That's the only downside I think to these pillows. They've held up really nicely, but uh, they do stain just like any other normal white pillow would. As far as the heating and cooling, I do think these pillows are relatively cooler. you know, I don't have to switch the pillow over and do the cool side of the pillow. It stays cool all night long because the feathers are insulating, but they're also very open and airy, and the material of the the satine uh pillow cover on them is also nice and cooling. So, the pillows always nice and cool. The feathers are nice. Uh I genuinely really like these a lot and I don't have any complaints about the pillows themselves. The certifications, the feathers again are OCS certified. The pillows are Greenguard Gold certified and made safe certified. Now, I want to give you two added bonuses in addition to all of the bedding that my wife and I have on our bed. I want to also tell you about our son's crib mattress and our dogs mattress. But our son's crib mattress is we went with the lightweight organic breathable ultra baby crib mattress. It's two-stage because it's for infants and it's for toddlers as well. The two-stage means it's for infants, but also as he grows and enters, you know, childhood, toddlerhood, it's also for him then as well. Now, the thing that we really like, it has a removable, breathable, machine washable added layer that is really extra thick and it allows for maximum breathability and it doubles as a mattress protector as well. So, this extra layer that goes on there, you can remove it, machine wash it. Again, with the materials, 100% got certified organic cotton and a waterproof surface made from non-GMO sugar cane. And as the same with our personal adult mattress, there is no glues or adhesives, no polyurethane foam, and it passes all flame standards without fire retardants or chemical additives. And like I mentioned at the beginning of this video, all crib mattresses have a lifetime limited warranty on them. As opposed to adult mattresses that have a nice 25-year limited warranty, all the infant mattresses have a lifetime limited warranty. Again, the certifications are top-notch. Got certified. The mattresses for infants and kids are also EWGverified. They're made certified and Green Guard Gold certified. Now, another little added bonus, our dog Ka, she has their organic pet bed with a washable waterproof cover. And we wash this quite a bit because she sheds all the time. And when this arrived, it was heavy duty. It felt like our mattress topper. It's filled with latex. It's filled with nice shredded latex. So, we put this right in her crate because she will chew things up. She's mostly husky. And we feel good knowing that when she lays in her crate, she is laying right on top of that. And she's laying on nothing but good quality materials. And she personally loves it, too. She likes to go in there and just lay throughout the day. Even if her door is open, she just likes to go in there and lay on it because apparently she thinks it's comfy as well. Overall, that's all the naturopic bedding that we have inside of our house. Genuinely, it feels good every night going to bed. Not just because of how comfy it is. I literally tell my wife what feels like every night, five nights out of the week, I'm like, I'm so grateful for our bed. I'm so grateful for our bedding. I'm so grateful how comfy it is. And I just love knowing the peace of mind that we are not breathing in all these toxic chemicals that have known health issues. It's great peace of mind knowing that our son has the same experience we do and even our dogs. And it really does make a noticeable difference in our recovery, our sleep quality, and just the peace of mind knowing that as much as we are trying to make our home a relatively safe, healthy environment, a non-toxic home, that we can also make our bedding where we spend a third of our lives the same. So, if you guys want to try Nature Pedic, you want to try any of the things that I mentioned today as a part of our bedding, if you want to get our entire bedding lineup, everything that we recommend, but go to the website, browse on there, and you can get 15% off of everything sitewide if you use the code Craig 15 at checkout if you're a new or returning customer on all your future purchases. And they often run deals from holiday season from time to time, but you can always save 15% off using my code and link in the description below. Again, this video is not sponsored by Nature Pedic. This is just my own honest, genuine thoughts. And if you are somebody that is out there looking to make the switch to more non-toxic bedding, I genuinely believe that Nature Pedic is the number one brand. They were the first ever EWG verified mattress brand and they have upheld that ever since. They are the same high quality and they keep getting better year after year from the farm to bed. They know all their farmers. You can trust their sourcing, all their certifications, and their quality is topnotch. I cannot recommend them enough. And guys, if you have not yet grabbed your copy of our non-toxic home guide, the healthy home, you can find that in the description below. My wife and I walk you through everything in our home, everything you want to look for from the kitchen to the bedroom to the nursery to the home gym to the wellness products, everything that we personally use, and all the certifications that you want to look for on how to make your home as healthy, safe, and relatively non-toxic as possible. Highly recommend checking out that guide linked in the description below. Make sure you hit that like and subscribe button because we have a lot of incredible content coming your way very soon. And guys, I'm Craig McCloskey.

Why we switched to a non-toxic sleep setup

A lot of people start with food (we did too), then water, then cookware… and eventually you realize the bedroom is its own category.

Many conventional mattresses are made with things like polyurethane foam, chemical flame retardants, and stain-resistant treatments. And a lot of sheets are essentially plastic-based fabrics (polyester blends). Even if you’re not the “doom and gloom” type, it’s hard to ignore the basic reality: your skin is in contact with this stuff for hours every night, and your face is basically pressed into it.

For us, the goal wasn’t perfection. It was reducing the obvious exposures where it actually makes sense — and the bed is one of the highest-leverage places to do it.

The mattress: our Naturepedic EOS Trilux experience

We went with the Naturepedic EOS Trilux. If you’ve ever tried to buy a mattress online without laying on it first… you know the feeling. It’s weirdly stressful. You’re basically trusting product pages and reviews and hoping you don’t end up with a giant regret box delivered to your door.

What made the EOS Trilux stand out for us is that it’s customizable — you can adjust the internal layers on each side of the bed. That mattered because people sleep differently, and what feels “perfect” for one person can feel like a folding chair for the other.

Assembly was honestly easier than I expected. It wasn’t “fun,” but it wasn’t a nightmare either — about 30–45 minutes to get everything set up.

The first thing that stood out immediately: no chemical smell. No off-gassing. That was a big deal for us because it’s one of the clearest “tells” you notice when comparing materials.

Comfort-wise, we were surprised how good it felt right away. I did tweak my layer order after the first couple nights (I wanted a little firmer feel), and that’s the advantage of a modular build: you can actually dial it in instead of just hoping your body “gets used to it.”

If you prefer trying things in person first, Naturepedic has physical locations (galleries) in a number of cities — so you can test before committing.

The “secret weapon”: the box-stitched latex mattress topper

If I had to pick the most underrated part of our setup, it might be the box-stitched latex mattress topper.

This one is especially worth mentioning if you’re not ready to buy a brand-new mattress yet. A high-quality topper can give you a noticeable upgrade in feel (and support) even if you keep your current mattress for a while.

This topper is substantial — heavier and more “serious” than I expected — and the box-stitched design has little compartments filled with shredded latex. The best way I can describe it: it supports your body without making you feel like you’re sinking into quicksand. There’s a gentle pressure-point feel that just works, especially if you deal with tightness from training or low-back stiffness.

If you’re trying to do this in phases, this is one of the best “step one” purchases, because it’s a meaningful upgrade without the full mattress investment.

Sheets: organic cotton sateen (why we keep reaching for these)

Our sheets are the organic cotton sateen set. And I’ll say it plainly: I look forward to getting into bed because of these sheets.

If you’ve used sateen before, you know the vibe — soft, smooth, and it tends to get better over time. These felt a little crisper out of the package compared to some other “silkier” sets we’ve tried, but after a couple washes they softened up a lot — and now they’re our favorite.

We keep our bedroom cool (around 68°F), and the sheets feel breathable and comfortable without that “I woke up in a sweat puddle” situation. Also important: they’re not treated with the usual wrinkle-resistant chemicals and finishes that a lot of conventional sheets use.

If you want that cool, buttery feel without the chemical finishes, these are the set we use,” organic cotton sateen sheet set.

Duvet + duvet cover: down insert with a linen cover

We use the down duvet insert and a linen duvet cover.

The down insert is the closest thing I’ve found to “sleeping under a cloud” without overheating. It’s light, breathable, and somehow still cozy. After using down, it’s hard to go back — it’s one of those “why did we wait so long?” upgrades.

For the duvet cover, linen starts crisp and gets softer the more you live in it. Ours has held up well even with real life happening (dogs, pulling covers, the whole deal). Linen also tends to be friendlier for people who feel stuffy at night because it’s a looser weave and doesn’t trap things the same way.

If you’re debating between cover materials, linen is the one I’d tell you to try first — and Naturepedic’s trial/return window makes that decision feel a lot less risky.

Pillows: why we went with down

Our pillows are also down, and they’ve been great for support without that “brick pillow” feel.

We’ve tried latex and memory foam in the past. Down is different: it shapes to your head and neck, but still feels soft. Temperature-wise, they’ve stayed cooler than I expected.

The only honest downside: white pillows will show life over time. If you use skincare (even non-toxic skincare), oils can discolor the fabric a bit. Not a dealbreaker, just real.

Bonus: our son’s breathable crib mattress

For our son, we went with a breathable Naturepedic crib mattress that’s designed for infants and toddlers (two-stage). What we liked most is the removable, washable layer and the fact that it’s made without the typical glues/adhesives and chemical flame retardants you see in a lot of crib mattresses.

When it comes to baby gear, my wife and I are picky. The nursery is one of those places where “good enough” doesn’t feel good enough — so we wanted a crib mattress we genuinely felt great about.

Bonus: yes, even our dog has a Naturepedic bed

And yes… our dog has the Naturepedic organic pet bed. It’s heavy-duty, filled with latex, and it’s held up well. Our dog genuinely chooses it even when her crate door is open, which is about as strong of a product review as you’ll ever get from a husky mix.

Final thoughts: is Naturepedic worth it?

Absolutely! If you’re building a healthier home, your bed is one of the smartest places to prioritize. You spend so much time there, and sleep impacts everything — recovery, energy, mood, training, parenting… all of it.

For us, Naturepedic has delivered on the two things that matter most:

  1. it’s genuinely comfortable, and

  2. it gives us peace of mind about what we’re sleeping on.
